Kōrin Ogata Galleries

Kōrin (1658-1716) was the originator of a Japanese style of painting today called Rinpa (i.e., school [pa)] of Kōrin [rin]. He simplified the shapes and colors of the objects that he drew and arranged them to create artificial, decorative patterns that were pleasing to the eye. In the 1800s many of his pictures were reproduced in woodblock-printed art books, six of which are listed below.
