In 1890 a picture book entitled Myōgi Kachō Gafu (i.e., Picture Album of Flowers and Birds of Outstanding Skill) was published by Katsugorō Inoue. Unfortunately, the name of the artist who drew the book’s pictures of flowers and (or) birds was not given. These pictures are shown here. The anonymous artist drew the shapes of flowers and birds fairly accurately but too few colors were used in printing process to match their true-to-life coloration. Click on a picture to enlarge it.
