A picture book entitled Kachō Zue (i.e., Pictures of Flowers and Birds) included no information about its publication date, publisher or artists. It included the twenty-four pictures shown in this gallery. Click on a picture to enlarge it. The first sixteen pictures were likely drawn by a different artist than the last eight. In pictures 1-16 the size of objects is generally much larger than in pictures 17-24 and the method used to color objects also differs (i.e., even coloration versus uneven coloration, respectively). In addition, the shapes of birds are drawn more accurately in pictures 17-24 than in pictures 1-16.
