The thirty pictures of flowers and (or) birds included in a picture book by Gyokushō published in 1898 and entitled Shūga Hyakudai (i.e., One Hundred Subjects for Lessons in Painting) are shown in this gallery. Click on a picture to enlarge it. Gyokushō drew the shapes of objects in a realistic way, typical of Japanese painters in the late 1800s.
