In 1812 Koshū authored a picture book entitled Koshū Gafu (i.e., Picture Album by Koshū). It included the eleven pictures of flowers and (or) birds shown in this gallery. Koshū’s drawing style was strongly influenced by the famous artist Ōkyo Maruyama who was the first Japanese artist to draw objects in a European, true-to-life way.
