Unzan was strongly influenced by a Chinese style of painting in which personal expression was more important than accuracy of shape and color. Consequently, the identity of the flowers and birds which he drew is not always clear. Thirty-two examples of his flower and (or) bird art are shown in this gallery with an asterisk (*) added to the names of flowers and birds with unclear identities. Click on a picture to enlarge it. These pictures were included in a woodblock-printed picture book entitled Unzan Gafu (i.e., Picture Album by Unzan), published in 1880.
