Motonobu was the founder of the Kanō school of Japanese painting and became the official painter of the ruling shogunate. He adopted a Chinese traditional painting style with strong ink brush strokes and sometimes a bit of color. Fourteen examples of his flower and (or) bird paintings are shown in this gallery.
